The Suncor Award is presented as a mark of distinction and recognition to an individual, a group, an organization or a company for innovative contribution towards regional sustainability; that is, creativity that significantly contributes to social equity, ecological integrity and economic prosperity demonstrated in Sarnia-Lambton.
The Steering Committee of the Bluewater Sustainability Initiative wishes to highlight and acknowledge the contributions of our community members towards a common sustainable future of the Lambton region, Canada and beyond.
The Suncor Award is presented as a mark of distinction and recognition to an individual, a group, an organization or a company for innovative contribution towards regional sustainability; that is, creativity that significantly contributes to social equity, ecological integrity and economic prosperity demonstrated in Sarnia-Lambton.
The goal of the Bluewater Sustainability Initiative (BSI) is for Sarnia-Lambton to be recognized worldwide as a hybrid, green community. The BSI is challenging our community to foster the next generation of sustainability innovators and implementers. The Suncor Award is recognition and incentive to meet this challenge.
Nomination Deadline: May 1st, 2010
Award: Framed Scroll and a $5,000 cash award
Eligibility: An individual, a group, an organization or a company from either the private or public sector is eligible for the Suncor Award. The Nominee is currently - that is in the year that the Award is given - resident in the Sarnia-Lambton area. The achievements for which the Nominee is recognized will have been done, at least in part, in the Sarnia-Lambton area during the two years preceding the nomination.
Nomination: The Nominator should be easily recognized as a contributor or leader in sustainability within the Sarnia-Lambton region. In addition, the nomination should be endorsed by two other recognized sustainability leaders. The Nominee has to agree to be nominated. The nomination and letters of endorsement should be sent confidentially to the selection committee. The nomination should include a statement of accomplishments from the Nominee no longer than 500 words.
Application: Please submit the nomination electronically to the Dean of Sustainable Development, Lambton College, maike.luiken@lambton.on.ca. The award shall be presented in the spring of each year. The Suncor Award recipient may be invited to present a BSI lecture.
Selection Committee: Dean of Applied Research and Sustainable Development, Lambton College, as Chair and 4 committee members from the BSI community.
